Why do we love the Grumpy Cat?

There are times when we, as humans, just want to be grumpy.  But social protocol requires us to smile, be agreeable, be kind, stay quiet, and hide our cantankerous  feelings.  Grumpy Cat says the things we humans, would love to say aloud.  If you search online you can find numerous "Grumpy Cat" sayings.  I have posted my favorites.  There are occasions you have to tell others, "No!"  Making too many commitments keeps you away from the people you really want to say, "Yes" to.  And the making lemonade when you are handed lemons thinking; you better be sure that life gave you the sugar and water to make it a really delicous life.

And finally, the "It's not me.  It's you."

All Praise Be Yours, My Lord

For the month of October I wanted to make an entry even though I've been busy.

October has been a beautiful month. The season is really changing. The leaves on the trees are turning many colors. And those trees make the mountains beautiful.  The air is invirgorating. The sky is really blue when the sun is out. And even on the rainy and foggy days, there is a loveliness.

October reminds me of St. Francis. His feast day is October 4th.

What great things God did with St. Francis.

"He who works with his hands is a laborer.  He who works with his hands and head is a craftsman.  He who works with his hands and head and his heart is an artist."

This is a St. Francis of Assisi quote.

Happy Birthday to Me! I've Come Into this World.

When I Am Among the Trees
Written by Mary Oliver

When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, "Stay awhile."
The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, "It's simple," they say,
"and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine."

Rain

Rain coming down hard on Capitol Street.
